All New Louisiana Combined State and Local Sales Tax Return
We are excited to announce a new Sales Tax Return will be available soon for online filing! Each physical location of your business entity will be able to report all State and Local sales and purchases activity not only from one centralized site but in one uniform return! File one combined return and we will submit your State and Local Sales Tax returns to the taxing authorities for you!
Things you will need to know about the new Combined State and Local Sales Tax Return:
- the new return will replace the single and multi-jurisdictional returns currently available in Parish eFile,
- your filing frequencies will need to be the same for the State and all Local authority accounts for a business location,
- all State and Local sales information will be needed to complete the return,
- you will have the option to “not file” the State return, i.e., if you are filing a consolidated State return (Note: the State information will still be needed to complete the combined return, even if you are only submitting the local portion),
- the new combined return will replace the Sales Tax returns only (the separate Hotel/Motel returns will remain available),

Louisiana Local Parish Taxing Authorities
Tax Account Number Registration Application
Changes are coming to the Local Parish Taxing Authority Account Number Registration Process! The current application process is being redesigned to provide more efficiency and a more positive experience when applying for account numbers with the Local authorities!
A few highlights include,
- a new user interface with a more user-friendly flow from page to page,
- more detailed explanations along the way, including “tips” that are available when hovering over specific fields,
- the ability to apply for not only the Local authority where a business is located, but also any parish that business delivers into, all within the same application,
- pop-ups at the bottom of the pages if required fields were not completed,
- expandable fields,
- the ability to name each physical location of your business entity (create a nickname to easily identify each business location),
- the issuance of a “Master Location Number” to house the State and all Local account numbers, relative to that location,
- and the ability to upload documentation with the application, e.g., articles of incorporation.
Be on the lookout!! Change is coming!!
Remote Sellers
Remote Sellers and businesses that have met the definition of remote seller (annual sales of $100,000 or more; or 200 or more transactions per year, but do not have physical presence in Louisiana) should register
with the Louisiana Commission for Remote Sellers (Commission) to file a single return for state and local taxes.
To register, visit the Commission’s website. A Remote Seller currently registered with the state and parishes as a regular dealer may switch to the Commission. The Remote Seller
must remit any tax collected while registered with the state and parishes directly to the state and parishes.
